Our semi-pro players have many things in common...

They LOVE this game!!  and want to get wayyy better!

They play a lot and also in tournaments.  They have a DUPR rating between 4.0 and 5.49 to qualify for the team.

They work HARD on their game and themselves as players!

Our Season and Expectations of our players

The UPL (Ultimate Pickleball League) season is about 20 weeks long and we will have approximately 18 matches during that time.  There will be a championship at the end of each season with big prizes awarded!!

Matches follow the following formats:

  • 3 Doubles Games

  • 1 Dream maker doubles game

  • 1 Dream maker singles game

Best 3 out of 5 wins the match and earns points towards the Championship matches at year end.

In addition to our tournament games, the Houston Dominators will hold two practices each week, during season.  These will be clearly communicated with you once you join and will be approximately 2 hours in length.  Our team will occupy 2 courts.  During these practices we will focus on specific skills, i.e. dinks, baseline shots, etc. AND will also run full on tournament style games... You will understand the format once you have played it a few times.  It keeps everyone engaged almost all the time!

On top of the thrill of being part of a semi-pro team, you will have opportunities to earn additional money by teaching at our Academies... There will be a lot of opportunities for this in the near future.

What costs can a new team member expect for themselves?

Initially there is a $49 admin/set up fee with UPL

Each player must pay for their uniforms (which later can be reimbursed).  This is $300.

You will receive two full sets of uniforms, a bag and other gear valued at nearly $600.

Almost none... The TEAM covers most of the costs including:

  - Uniforms (2 sets of complete uniforms)**

  - Travel to AWAY games

  - Practice court time expenses

What is NOT covered are your meals and transportation to local events; matches, practices and any other local special events, like exhibition games.

** Uniforms are paid for by player, but are reimbursed after 10 months of remaining on the team.
